Rusti Baker

ARM – Sr. Director, Security Segment



Rusti Baker leads the Security Segment at ARM, Inc. She defines and creates new security products and technology business lines for ARM with a focus on improving end user experience on mobile, wearable and CE devices through next generation security platforms and authentication/identity services. Rusti drives ARM’s engagement with studio and content ecosystem, and has led the roll out of ARM’s v8m security offerings for secure embedded compute applications. Rusti has also served as co-chair of Global Platform’s Premium Content Task Force since 2014.












Majid Bemanian

Director of Segment Marketing, Imagination Technologies



Majid Bemanian is Director of Marketing for Imagination, responsible for driving the company’s strategic security initiatives and leading its market strategy for the networking and storage segments. He also co-chairs the prpl Foundation’s security working group, focused on developing open standards and APIs around next-generation embedded security solutions. Prior to joining Imagination in 2013, Mr. Bemanian was Director of Marketing for the Processor Business Unit at AppliedMicro. He has more than 30 years of high-tech industry experience with hands-on engineering, marketing and business management skills. Bemanian has held key management positions with Amdahl Communications, Ascom-Timeplex, Encore Video, Raytheon Semi, LSI Logic, AppliedMicro and many early-stage startups. He holds several patents and a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno.






Gil Bernabeu

GlobalPlatform – Technical Director



Mr. Bernabeu is the Technical Advisor for the Standardization and Technology Department at GlobalPlatform. In this role, he supports GlobalPlatform's marketing and product groups in the field of multiple application infrastructure.

Mr. Bernabeu was elected as GlobalPlatform's Technical Director in 2005. His main role is to drive forward the development of GlobalPlatform's smart card specifications and related technical initiatives. Mr. Bernabeu also acts as GlobalPlatform's central technical liaison point, coordinating the efforts of the organization's three technical committees – Card, Device and Systems – and the GlobalPlatform Task Forces. He ensures that all elements of GlobalPlatform-based smart card solutions are interoperable and offer backwards compatibility with previous technology releases. Prior to becoming GlobalPlatform Technical Director, Gil served GlobalPlatform as the Chair of the Systems Committee for over two years.







Hank Chavers

GlobalPlatform – Technical Program Manager



Mr. Chavers joined GlobalPlatform as Technical Program Manager in 2014. He will play a key strategic role in supporting the technical committees, Advisory Council and task forces, providing assistance with meetings and development of white papers/requirements, and furthering the association’s business development efforts in the United States. Additionally, Mr. Chavers will support GlobalPlatform’s Technical and Executive Directors, as well as aiding the development of the association’s specifications. He will play an active role in improving industry knowledge of these specifications as a GlobalPlatform certified trainer.

Mr. Chavers has over 20 years of experience in the development, deployment and convergence of internet and mobile services. In his previous roles as a near field communication (NFC) specialist, he has overseen the production of proof-of-concept demonstrations for NFC enabling wireless technologies, provided technical management for the first ever implementation featuring two types of payment cards loaded in one secure element, crafted the market entry strategy for a Fortune 50 telecommunications firm to launch a new NFC service platform and led the NFC Forum Developer Workgroup and NFC Global Competition. Mr. Chavers is also the co-author of ‘NFC Reference Guide for Air Travel,’ an IATA and NFC-Forum joint publication and served as Technical Editor for the book ‘Professional NFC Application Development for Android’.






Jatin Deshpande

Senior Technical Account Manager, Giesecke & Devrient



Jatin Deshpande is a Senior Technical Account Manager at Giesecke & Devrient.


In this role, he is responsible for driving the technical interaction of G&D’s portfolio of authentication products with US customers and partners. During his nine years at G&D, he has worked on various card, token and embedded products with special focus on the TEE landscape. He also supports other secure embedded technologies and the management of those secure areas using a Trusted Service Manager or TSM. Prior to G&D, Jatin has worked in different industry segments including semi-conductor , software services and High Availability Systems.










Stéphanie El Rhomri

FIME - Vice President, Technology



Ms. El Rhomri joined FIME in 2007 after more than 10 years working for an embedded terminal manufacturer as head of technical support. She is the Vice President, Technology at FIME and is responsible for developing new services, understanding international technology trends and ensuring alignment of FIME's near field communication and payments offering.

Ms. El Rhomri actively contributes to GlobalPlatform and is Chair of the association's Trusted Execution Environment Compliance Program Working Group, within the Device Committee, and also Chair of the Transportation Sub-Task Force, within the Mobile Task Force.

Ms. El Rhomri joined the GlobalPlatform Board of Directors in 2015.








Tim Hartog

Riscure - Sales and Business Development Manager



Tim Hartog is Sales and Business Development manager within Riscure and responsible for the security evaluation activities for amongst others Trusted Execution Environments and secure software solutions like White Box Cryptography (WBC). Within this role Tim works with various clients such as chip vendors, WBC developers and integrators, TEE developers and device manufacturers. Tim has been active within GlobalPlatform in the development of the TEE Certification process and evaluation methodology. Tim has a strong background in information security and has been active in the field of mobile security, security domain separation and trusted computing (TPM from TCG).






Mark Hung

Research VP - Gartner



Mark Hung is a Research VP at Gartner, where he leads the company's Internet of Things (IoT) research.


In this role, he sets Gartner's IoT research agenda across the company and focuses on strategic advice for both IT leaders and high tech executives. With his technical and entrepreneurial background, Mark has advised many Fortune 500 companies and government organizations on their strategic planning, product positioning, go-to-market strategy and competitive analysis. He is frequently quoted in the leading publications and media outlets, including Bloomberg, CNBC, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal







Mark Kekicheff

Visa - GlobalPlatform Chairman



Mr. Kekicheff currently serves as Senior Director of Chip Innovation at Visa Inc. and is responsible for Visa Inc.'s smart card technology compliance globally, covering contact and contactless cards and terminals as well as mobile handsets. A highly regarded smart card expert worldwide, Mr. Kekicheff has authored several patents, is well acquainted with IT security and frequently addresses the industry through high profile speaking engagements. Throughout his career he has been a driving force in the development of global smart card technology, worldwide standards and compliance programs. He currently sits on the EMVCo Board of Managers and chairs the EMV Next Generation Task Force for the same organization.


Mr. Kekicheff has been an active member of GlobalPlatform since its inception in 1999 and was a co-architect of the original GlobalPlatform Specifications. Since that time, he has held a number of posts: he was GlobalPlatform's Technical Director between 1999 and 2005, when he stepped down from this role and was elected to the Board of Directors and Vice Chairman of the organization. He was then appointed Chairman in 2010. Mr. Kekicheff has made a significant contribution to GlobalPlatform over the years and has been responsible for the following initiatives, among many others: launching and chairing the Mobile Task Force from 2007 until 2012, shaping consortium strategy, initiating industry outreach efforts, obtaining ISO recognition for GlobalPlatform by acting as a technical expert liaison for smart card standardization and providing technical support for implementers of GlobalPlatform technology.







Carolina Lavatelli

CTO, Internet of Trust



Carolina Lavatelli is the CTO of Internet of Trust.


She holds PhD in Computer Science and has over 15 years of experience in product security analysis, evaluation and certification, and in the definition of security requirements and assurance frameworks for industry and public organisations. Carolina is currently working on efficient and focused approaches to the assurance challenges in mobile and IoT verticals and underlying technologies.

Carolina has co-chaired the definition of GlobalPlatform TEE Protection Profile and certification scheme, and she is now leading the Lab Working Group and the Security Evaluation Secretariat.







Loreal LeGate

GlobalPlatform - Marketing Director



As Marketing Director of GlobalPlatform, Ms. LeGate is responsible for leading GlobalPlatform’s strategic marketing initiatives including value proposition articulation, branding, and membership communications. She promotes GlobalPlatform messaging across all channels and all targeted markets. Ms. LeGate contributes to marketing strategy planning discussions alongside the Executive and Technical Directors and PR Agency. She manages marketing for special programs and campaigns that are of timely and strategic interest to the organization. She also interacts with the various technical committees, working groups, and task forces to generate marketing and communications ideas including press releases, industry interviews, made-simple guides, public website copy updates, byline articles, newsletters, white papers, videos, animations and social media content.


Prior to her appointment to a role within GlobalPlatform, Ms. LeGate held various marketing, business development, and communications positions at American Express. Most recently, as Director of Global Marketing, she was responsible for worldwide marketing activities associated with the company's global network and emerging payments solutions. She led a team of senior marketing managers responsible for value messaging, branding, training and promotional materials, and multi-channel distribution including web and conferences. While at American Express, Ms. LeGate served on two EMVCo Task Forces over three years.


Ms. LeGate joined GlobalPlatform in 2016.






Pedro Martinez

Gemalto - Marketing Director Mobile Financial Services Business Unit



Pedro Martinez is the Marketing Director for the Mobile Financial Services business unit, contributing to the development of payment, transport access and automotive mobile service ecosystems. Pedro has held this position since 2012.


He previously drove Global partnerships for MFS and was Director of Product Marketing for the Identity and Access Management division. Before that he held a variety of managerial positions in marketing and business development since joining Gemalto in 1998. Pedro has served on the NFC Forum as chair of the Air Travel Taskforce to bring awareness to uses of NFC within the travel industry.


Pedro has a background in Telecommunications Engineering at Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain.







Cathy Medich

Director, Strategic Programs, Smart Card Alliance



Cathy Medich is Director of Strategic Programs for the Smart Card Alliance and Associate Director of the U.S. Payments Forum.


In these roles, she manages strategic marketing and industry initiatives and directs industry council and working committee activities. Cathy has over 20 years of experience in marketing and strategic planning for technology businesses, including consulting engagements or positions with Hewlett-Packard, VeriSign, Verifone and CommerceNet. Cathy has B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from M.I.T. and an M.B.A. from the Wharton Graduate School.









Quang-Huy Nguyen

Trusted Labs - Evaluation Labs Manager



Quang-Huy Nguyen leads the Trusted Labs Evaluation Labs. Before joining Trusted Labs in 2011, he spent nearly 10 years in the R&D activities of Gemalto, a world-leading provider of digital security products and services.


He successfully led several high-level certification projects including the two world-first EAL7 certifications of a smart card IC and of a smart card OS.


Being a Certified Information Systems Security Professional, Quang-Huy Nguyen also holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science.








Petr Peterka

Verimatrix – Chief Technology Officer



Petr Peterka has served as CTO of Verimatrix since 2010. In this role, he is responsible for the company’s overall revenue security strategy and anti-piracy efforts as well as its advanced technology research and intellectual property development. He has more than 25 years of experience in the multimedia industry, and has extensive familiarity with content protection techniques for IPTV, DVB and OTT streaming, as well as forensic watermarking technology. Petr joined Verimatrix in 2010 from Motorola’s Home and Networks Mobility Team. In this role, he led teams working on digital rights management (DRM) for multimedia streaming over IP networks, content sharing within home networks, and other related products. Petr also played a lead software architect role in the development of satellite, cable and IPTV conditional access systems (CAS) for pay TV. He earned an MSEE degree from Czech Technical University in Prague and a MSCS degree from University of California in San Diego. Petr also holds 26 US patents and numerous patent applications.







Adam Powers

Technical Director - FIDO Alliance



Adam Powers is a technology executive with 20 years of experience leading standards and technology development for global organizations. Adam currently serves as the Technical Director of the FIDO Alliance, the non-profit organization developing standards for stronger, simpler authentication. As Technical Director, Adam facilitates the development and publication of all FIDO authentication standards. He also is responsible for establishing the FIDO certification program, which he now manages daily. Through these roles, Adam has helped position FIDO authentication as the global standard for strong authentication and enabled the successful deployment of over 200 FIDO implementations with major services including Google, Docomo, Dropbox, and GitHub. 


Prior to his role at the FIDO Alliance, Adam led global technology and strategy in executive roles in the communications industry including Rovi and Rambus, where he developed and successfully launched new communications technologies and managed dozens of standards and thousands of patents. Adam has served in over 30 standards and government organizations including the Federal Communication Commission (FCC), Consumer Technology Association (CTA), Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA), and the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).






Andy Ramsden

Trustonic - Product Marketing Director



Andy Ramsden has an established background in both software and hardware based mobile contactless payments and mobile commerce.


He joined Trustonic in April 2016 to become Product Marketing Director. Prior to that he was at Proxama with sales & marketing responsibilities for their Digital Payments software products including Host Card Emulation, EMV Tokenisation, other software based EMV solutions and value added mobile commerce services.


Prior to Proxama, Andy did some consultation for UK MNO consortium Weve, helping to define their mobile wallet roadmap and product proposition as part of their launch in 2013. Before that he was VP Business Development EMEA for US based start-up DeviceFidelity - a hardware based, microSD secure element manufacturer which provided a flexible and innovative alternative to the NFC SIM.

Andy joined DeviceFidelity from Telefonica O2 UK where he spent 3 years working on some of the earliest NFC trials and initiatives in Europe. He was responsible for managing some of the early O2 NFC projects working closely with banks, transit operators, service providers, TSMs and other key players in the emerging NFC ecosystem, and during this time he helped architect a commercial model and business case around NFC mobile contactless services.






Steven Sprague

Rivetz Corp. - CEO



Steven Sprague is the CEO of Rivetz Corp. and one of the principle industry evangelists for the application of trusted computing technology. Steven has a strong technical foundation in the principles, capabilities and business models of incorporating trusted hardware into everyday computing, and is skilled at translating these concepts into layman’s terms.


Steven is the co-founder of Rivetz Corp. a new company focused on the use of trusted computing and TEE for the consumer market. Rivetz is also playing an important role in providing the key technologies for the protection of private keys and secure instructions for Bitcoin and other crypto currencies.


Steven graduated from Cornell University with a B.S. in mechanical engineering. He enjoys farming in Western Massachusetts with his wife, two daughters, and a few too many horses.





Alexander Summerer

Giesecke & Devrient – Technology Consultant, Mobile Security



Alexander Summerer has been working for Giesecke & Devrient since 2008. As system architect he was responsible for the implementation and integration of Mobile ID and PKI solutions. Currently he is working as a technology consultant. In this role, he drives technology developments for strong authentication solutions and identity application for mobile platforms. Moreover Alexander Summerer is an active contributor in different standardization organizations and is especially engaged in the standardization of APIs and protocols for Secure Element based mobile applications in the REE and TEE. He is currently acting as chairman of the Secure Element Access Control Working Group and vice-chair of the Identity Task Force in GlobalPlatform.
